SMALL BUSINESS BLOG

Are you keeping your business in good health? Days can turn into weeks and months when you run your own business and you can often lose sight of the big picture.
Here are some helpful tips to keep you on track;
Expenses // review your expenses & pay your suppliers on time. Make sure you’re not overpaying for a product or service or for subscriptions etc that you don’t need.
Sales // chase up late payers and collect all outstanding debts owed to you. Review your year-on-year sales to see if you are performing better than last year. Is your profit level where it should be? If not, why not?
Stock // are your stock levels in line with your forecast? Are you providing for perishable goods/stock losses? Is your stock safe & secure? Could you benefit from an app to better manage your stock?
Employees // if you have employees ensure their records are up to date and super obligations are being paid on time.
ATO // if you are registered for GST/PAYG ensure your accounts are reconciled and your BAS/IAS is lodged & paid on time or get a payment plan put in place.
Customers // make sure you customers don’t forget who you are! Use all available communication methods to keep in touch with customers and ensure you are using social media regularly, not only posting content but actually engaging (liking & commenting) with your followers and potential customers.
Industry // keep on top of what’s happening in your industry – set up Google Alerts, attend conferences & seminars, keep learning.
Data Safety // use cloud based apps to store your data, this ensures your data is always available to you and backed up regularly.
Advisors // keep in contact with your accountant, bookkeeper & key stakeholders of your business – catch up on a semi regular basis (book in for a virtual coffee!) to review how the business is performing and to make sure you’re staying on track.
What other tasks do you do regularly to keep your business on track?
